How to Overcome AI-Induced Hiring Challenges (Stop Losing Great Talent)
The influx of AI-enabled candidates has introduced new complexities for businesses relying heavily on job advert responses. Pressed for time, many companies are using AI to churn out vague, uninspired job specifications instead of leveraging its potential to craft precise, engaging listings that resonate with the right candidates. The result? Generic job ads attract a flood of poorly matched applications, overwhelming hiring teams and leaving top-tier talent either buried in the noise or contacted too late to engage.
On the flip side, candidates are turning to AI tools to mass-tailor their CVs to job postings and apply at scale, often with little genuine alignment. This creates a bottleneck for hiring teams, who are inundated with applications and struggle to distinguish truly qualified candidates from those who merely fit the keywords. As response rates balloon, delays in shortlisting and follow-ups erode the candidate experience, leaving the best candidates feeling undervalued or overlooked.
What’s left is a broken system—a cycle of inefficiency that stretches time-to-hire, frustrates candidates, and results in subpar hires who lack the transformative impact businesses need to move forward.
For hiring teams, this dynamic poses significant challenges. When job briefing processes are ineffective and administrative burdens pile up, identifying and assessing talent becomes an uphill battle. The result? A recruitment experience that fails both employers and candidates.
So, what’s the solution? Cutting through the noise requires a shift from reactive to proactive hiring strategies. Creative recruitment marketing and direct headhunting have proven far more effective. By engaging with high-caliber talent directly, businesses can bypass inefficiencies and focus on candidates who truly align with their goals.
If your hiring process feels stuck in the churn, it’s time to rethink your approach. Let’s connect and explore how strategic recruitment can help you secure the transformative talent your business needs to thrive. Book a time to speak with me here.
How to Build Machine Learning Teams That Deliver?
Creating production-ready AI systems requires more than just technical expertise in machine learning. Ron Green , CTO of Machine Learning Consultancy KUNGFU.AI , discusses the importance of combining deep AI knowledge with exceptional software development to build effective teams capable of delivering tailored, production-grade AI solutions. With over 20 years of experience, Ron has honed a hiring approach that focuses on both technical capability and cultural alignment.?
For Ron, great machine learning engineers are those who excel not only in AI but also in software principles like design, scalability, and reliability. These skills ensure that models can transition from proof-of-concept to production environments without compromising performance or maintainability.?
But technical skills are only part of the equation. Ron emphasizes the importance of cultural fit, adaptability, and humility. These traits enable engineers to collaborate effectively, embrace challenges, and contribute to a team’s long-term success. For hiring managers, using scenario-based problem-solving assessments can help uncover a candidate's ability to deliver real-world results.?

How do you know if your company is AI-Ready??
Introducing artificial intelligence into a business isn’t just about adopting cutting-edge technology—it’s about ensuring the organization is ready to embrace the change. Olga. Topchaya , founder and CEO of Lapis AI Consults , shares three key indicators of AI readiness that companies must consider before embarking on their AI journey.?
First, you need internal champions. These are individuals within the company who are not only excited about AI but are actively advocating for it and encouraging others to see its value. They create momentum that drives adoption forward.?
Second, executive support is crucial. Successful AI implementation requires sponsorship from leadership and, importantly, a clear budget allocated to its development and scaling. Without this commitment, even the most innovative AI strategies can stall.?
Finally, an organization must have a level of risk tolerance. AI systems aren’t perfect, and a degree of openness to experimentation and iterative improvement is necessary to realize their full potential.?
Building the Foundations for AI Success?
Beyond readiness, Olga emphasizes the importance of aligning AI initiatives with strategic business goals. She advocates for custom solutions tailored to specific organizational needs, rather than defaulting to off-the-shelf options, which often fail to deliver long-term value.?

Glasgow Girls Club?????
I am on the board of Glasgow Girls Club, a social good media agency and youth service provider. Over the last six months, CEO Amy R. has been leading an amazing project in collaboration with Glasgow City Council and The Carter Center .
Working with young women in Glasgow, a short film has been created to help highlight the red flags that you're in or entering a toxic relationship. This is part of a broader marketing campaign. Where We Stop is a film that subtly highlights forms of violence against women and girls and the often-overlooked early signs of domestic abuse. Born from a lack of media that specifically centres on young women’s experience of domestic abuse, this film aims to challenge the misconception that the issue primarily affects older women.
Over a third of young women in Scotland have been in an intimate relationship with someone who was abusive or harmed them physically or emotionally.
Please feel free to share this film. The film directs people who would like support to an app, Sophie's Stop, which helps direct women to the right specialist service and learn about their rights and choices.
