An AI-inclusive workplace in the making

微软 's 'Work Trend Index 2023 Report' has some interesting revelations about how Indian employees look at Artificial Intelligence. As many as 83% of the workforce are open to seeking the help of AI to ease workloads, amid the much-publicized notion of AI being a job demolisher evident from the finding that 74% of Indian employees fear that AI will render them jobless.

The beliefs and perspectives are skewed in favour of AI, as three out of four Indian workers welcome using AI for administrative, analytical, and creative aspects of their jobs. It is pertinent to note that creative professionals who use AI regularly are gung-ho about using it extensively going forward. Furthermore, Indian managers are 1.6 times more likely to hail AI for its value creation and productivity boost rather than condemn it for reducing headcount.

  • 90% of Indian leaders feel employees must have new skills attuned to an AI-centric workplace. At the same time, 78% of employees say they are short of the necessary capabilities at this point
  • Experts believe that the next generation of AI will unleash employee productivity and help break the monotony of work, which is why every organization should proactively build an environment and capabilities that make the most of AI
  • Interestingly, the single most important factor affecting productivity, according to 46% of Indian workers, is the way meetings are organized and conducted
