Expanding my knowledge and skills in the latest technology is critical to my continued professional growth as a leader. Embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) Generative and AI (GenAI) advancements enables me to step out of my comfort zone. Earlier this week, I collaborated with Chris Gee to discuss an important aspect of physical security: integrating AI's digital strategy to enhance communication and reputation management from readiness to response during crisis events.
In physical security, our focus often revolves around investigating issues, incidents, or crises that could impact the organization's reputation, natural and artificial disasters (such as workplace violence), and more. However, Physical security professionals often work closely with the communication team and leadership to develop effective crisis communication strategies. By integrating AI tools like ChatGPT, we can enhance communication strategies and draft statements outlining mitigation, action, or prevention plans in response to a crisis. This reassures us of our preparedness and enhances our ability to communicate our resilience effectively during a crisis.
Integrating the human element with AI as a transformative force is vital. It unlocks new capabilities, allowing us to communicate our resilience effectively during a crisis. We all have a role in governing AI effectively to ensure its responsible and ethical use, which is crucial in providing security and reassurance.
To keep pace with AI advancements, I also had the fantastic opportunity to participate in a thought-provoking presentation, "Frameworks for Capitalizing on AI," hosted by Paul McDonagh-Smith , MIT Sloan Executive Education, on July 9, 2024. The presentation was incredibly informative and covered many important topics in artificial intelligence.
Like my earlier conversation with Chris Gee , a key aspect discussed was the regulatory framework and governance necessary to ensure AI's safe and ethical use. This included exploring the current and potential future regulations around AI and how organizations can align their practices with these standards.
