AI: How to catch up
AI. It's everywhere. It's promising a revolution. Are you ready for it?
The answer for 99% of people is "No".
The question I am answering today is "How do I catch up?"
Step 1: Start using it
You can learn everything about AI, but it will not be as useful as becoming a daily user.
Step 2: Take a prompt course
You don't have to pay; there are a lot of free courses available. The one that changed my perspective on prompts was from The Neuron called Introduction to ChatGPT: https://www.theneuron.ai/courses/intro-to-chatgpt-training-course
Step 3: Start applying what you learn
Make it a practice to start asking yourself the question, "Can AI help me do this faster, better, more efficiently?" and try it out.
Step 4: Learn from your practice
You are going to fail. A lot. Learn what you can and cannot do with your particular model. Iterate a few times to get the outcome you want. But also know when to give up.
Step 5: Learn about the different models
Especially with generative AI, get to know the large language models in the market and play to their respective strengths. Compare outputs from models using the same prompt. See what suits your particular style and way of using AI.
Step 6: Find your tools
There are many tools out in the market. Find the one that works for you. In my line of work ChatGPT, Gemini and NotebookLM has proven invaluable, but you might find others better suit your needs. Bookmark and use them.
That's it. It's pretty simple. Just because you feel like your behind the curve, doesn't mean you can't catch up, and you will. It just takes some practice.
