AI is here (has been for a while): Here’s how to embrace it — and ensure you won’t lose your job

First, you should know, this post was written by a human.
As the world currently buzzes about artificial intelligence, the question some professionals are asking themselves is: “Will I be replaced by a thinking machine?”
You might not realize it, but you’re already living in a world where AI is automating job functions and streamlining processes in various industries to increase productivity, efficiency, speed and results.
In some industries, such as manufacturing, there is potential for AI to replace jobs. However, career sustainability in an AI environment is possible. The key is developing human capabilities that simply cannot be mimicked.
For example, imagine you’re the manager of an employee with a serious performance issue in the workplace. In managing this issue, you will listen, show caring, provide comfort and concern and modulate your comments based on the precise needs of that employee.
Another example is creativity. AI can be programmed with an algorithm to write songs, create art or write books. But it cannot provide authentic creativity based on timely social and cultural context. Humans can make that leap.
So, will you be replaced by a machine with AI? Not likely, if you stay competitive in an AI environment.
To do so, focus on your humanness. While becoming an expert in your field, also develop your emotional intelligence, creativity and critical thinking. Then, harness AI to your advantage and exponentially improve your value.
Don’t fear AI, make it your partner.
