AI Grading & Feedback Policy Language
Note: This language was initially developed for the syllabi of a college writing professor using the Eazl AI platform to give her students feedback on their writing. If you see room for improvement anywhere, please leave a comment.
The feedback you receive on your work may be generated, in part or entirely, using artificial intelligence (AI). It's important that you understand:
AI is used to assist with grading and feedback to ensure that all students get high-quality feedback that enables them to improve their writing skills. The use of AI also enables me to invest the time and energy necessary to develop excellent curriculum for you, to spend time with students, and to collaborate with other faculty members. AI has the ability to synthesize a tremendous amount of information (for example, writing samples, syllabi, assignment details, other referenced works, college standards, professional standards, and more) and then use that information to create personalized feedback for you. Moreover, grading and generating feedback for many students can be so time-consuming that it consumes all of the time that would be otherwise available for the work that only I can do -- interact with you on a real, personal basis. In short, AI enables me to deliver you high-quality, personalized feedback and spend more time on the parts of teaching that can only be done by a human being.

I then, in a secure and private environment, add your work to my AI prompts to generate personalized feedback for you. It's important for you to know that your information (name, writings, etc.) are neither retained by any AI company nor are they used to train any AI model.
Finally, these AI systems evolve and benefit from your input. You should use any AI-generated feedback as the starting point for a conversation rather than the end of an interaction. You're encouraged to share your ideas about:
