In the State of Skills 2021 study from Degreed (link below) with 5,000+ people surveyed, the most in-demand skills (both technical and human) are listed by country, by industry and by job, using as basis a taxonomy of 25 skills developed by by McKinsey Global Institute.

It is crucial for organizations to measure current and future skills and then level them with the current and future jobs. We are talking about process such as Career Development and Career Pathways, Succession Planning, Talent Pools, etc.
- In this study Degreed shows that only 21% of workers have their online profile′s up-to-date.
- 34% think it is in their employer’s system.
- 27% of workers believe that data is still hidden on their CVs and resume′s documents.
- And 40% of employees say they frequently complete tasks outside their job description, according to Gartner, Workforce Planning for Competitive Advantage Post COVID-19, 06/2020.
Clearly there is a lot of potential to better capture this data on employee′s skills and it has more to do with communication and measurement culture, than with a particular technological solution.
For any AI to work, we first need to create a culture where employees and managers understand the benefits for them (better career opportunities, personalized development, etc) to populate the current systems in place with the right information.
AI is as good as the data you plug in.
