AI a friend or enemy

My readers would have seen one recent change which I have made in my LinkedIn profile heading - "Program Manager trying friendship with AI" - many of you will ask me isnt this very late being working in the IT field for ages, well I would say it's still not delayed but if we keep delaying it, we will end up cursing the AI only :-D

AI is nothing new and has been in use for years, but for sure now we are seeing more use cases of AI which are scalable and making huge difference and value to businesses as well. Earlier we have seen AIs limited to labs and research, which is still on. I still feel we are at the initial stage where AI will be taking big leaps but yes there are questions on ethics related to AI as well, which definitely needs to be looked at along with the data and security aspects as well.

We have seen how fast ChatGPT has taken center stage and it's been banned, or court cases have been filed against it as well, so there is a lot to do when it comes to making AI scalable and to be used by the masses - it will take time but steadily it will take center stage in many aspects.

I am not here to explain what AI is, but I wanted to share my thoughts on AI as a concept and how it can be used in all fairness. As we know AI doesn't require human intervention and primarily works on its own intelligence based on tons of data which run in the background making it take decisions based on models and algorithms. The question arises of AI taking human jobs and killing humans (based on futuristic predictions from Sci-Fi movies), I am not sure if it will kill humans in future or not, but for sure, it will take human jobs. Is it something new, same happened a few decades back when computers started flooding offices, but it helped in creating new jobs employing millions of people directly and indirectly - the same will happen with AI as well. We need to be equipped to work with AI to find solutions to more and more complex problems. I feel humans and AI has to work collaboratively to find solutions to newer problems which are not yet answered or even been looked at as problems, let's keep AI killing humans for distant future thought. I think with computers getting more and more powerful we have solved many complex problems with it, so AI is nothing different but a specialized tool to solve more complex problems.

For me, AI has to be embraced as a friend who works in all fairness with humans. There are regulations, and standards shaping up to make it ethical and whether you like it or not, AI is going to scale up and will not remain limited to labs and limited use cases only.

Well will it remain as a friend or become like a rogue AI; BTW don't we see rogue humans? As we have rules and laws to catch them and control, the same needs to be done for AI as well. I know it seems futuristic, but this is what we will do more with AI :-)

Thanks for reading and pls do share your thoughts as well.
