AI in France: Watching from the Sidelines or Seizing Opportunities?

AI in France: Watching from the Sidelines or Seizing Opportunities?

Perception shapes reality. Are we merely observing AI’s rise, or are we actively shaping its future?

Artificial intelligence is not just about slogans or publicity stunts. It entails profound transformations that redefine economic relations, work, knowledge, and even our relationship with truth. France must not, cannot afford to be a mere spectator or a simple regulator, at the risk of seeing others decide in its place.

AI for All: Adoption at Every Level

Not missing out on AI means, first and foremost, not just going with the flow. It requires a collective sense of responsibility:

  • Individually, through education and understanding of AI tools, to avoid being reduced to simply passive consumers, fascinated by the "wow" effect of technology.
  • Within businesses and organizations, by integrating AI into a strategic vision, beyond regulatory constraints or opportunistic adoption without real purpose (no AI just for the sake of AI).
  • Politically, by demanding real expertise from our representatives rather than regulatory posturing without vision or sufficient means. Regulating without understanding means letting global tech superpowers decide for us.

AI is too serious a matter to be left to politicians alone - FJ

A Collaborative Approach Over an Imposed One

A technology as foundational and disruptive as AI cannot be managed solely by administrative institutions disconnected from the field. It requires constant dialogue between researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers to avoid a purely legislative and defensive approach.

France has already missed several technological waves by adopting a wait-and-see or protectionist stance. AI must not be a subject monopolized by a few but a collective challenge driven by those who design it, deploy it, and experience its consequences.?

Only under this condition can we be actors rather than mere followers.
