AI Models Boost Children's Suicide-Risk Prediction
Researchers have developed three machine-learning models to predict suicide risk in children. The models were trained on data from electronic health records, and they were able to outperform traditional methods. The most comprehensive model incorporated 84 data points, while another model considered all mental health diagnostic codes. A third model assessed various indicators, such as medications and lab tests.
The researchers believe that the models could be used to identify children at risk of suicide, and they could also be used to develop new interventions.
