AI Essentials for Employees: Episode 7

AI Essentials for Employees: Episode 7

Welcome back to Episode 7 of My AI Newsletter! The start of this year has been very intense, with innovations and breakthroughs happening faster than we thought possible. My AI predicitions for 2024 are not only holding true but are being realized faster than anticipated. This makes it crucial for all of us to engage with AI and explore how we can work with it. Let us start.

1. The AI Generation? 1 in 5 kids logging into ChatGPT in 2023

A study from 2023 has found that ChatGPT is now very popular among young kids, with 1 in 5 of them using it. This increase in AI usage introduces us to Generation AI, where kids are using artificial intelligence not just for help with schoolwork but also for fun. As AI tools like ChatGPT become normal in theironline world, it's really important for parents and teachers to keep up and help guide them safely.

Older generations need to learn and adapt too, so they can help the younger generations. According to the study a kid said, "My teachers don’t like AI tools and think it’s like cheating, but I find them really useful." This shows that we can't just ban AI but rather think of ways to use it wisely in learning and fun. Parents, teachers and managers must find ways to include AI in the daily work... See more below.

2. Sora by OpenAI

OpenAI continues to lead the AI race with groundbreaking innovations, and now they're set to introduce another revolutionary product that allows for video creation through natural language instructions. With the introduction of Sora, OpenAI showcases its unmatched capability in the AI field again, offering tools that enable the generation of complex and imaginative scenes from simple text prompts.

Imagine that you will be creating stunning videos/ads/instructions by just typing

3. Meet Rabbit R1: Your Simple AI Helper

The Rabbit R1 is a brand-new gadget for 2024 that makes using technology super easy. Imagine having a small AI friend in your pocket that does things for you with just a voice command. No need to swipe through apps anymore. Just press a button, ask it to play music, give you directions, or even order food, and it takes care of it. What makes the Rabbit R1 special is it's a "large action model" – unlike other AIs that just talk, this one actually does stuff for you. It's designed to do almost everything your smartphone does but in a much simpler way, using voice commands. Unlike Siri, which might need specific instructions, Rabbit R1 thinks ahead. Say you want to book an Uber for 6 people; it automatically knows to order an XL Uber without you specifying. Plus, it sells for $199 without any extra monthly fees, making tech life not just easier but also more fun and straightforward. Rabbit R1 is just the first gadget of many but something like this will definitly be the future.

4. ?Microsoft's Stand on Deepfakes: Nadella's Call for Action

Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, has spoken out against the spread of fake AI images, like those of Taylor Swift, calling it deeply troubling. Like I pointed out in my predictions for 2024, he stresses the need for quick action, suggesting that tech companies, law enforcement, and global norms must unite to tackle this issue. Nadella's comments highlight Microsoft's focus on safe AI use, showing a path forward in the fight against digital misuse and the importance of ethical technology practices.

5. 80% Consumers Want Retailers to Implement Innovative Technologies in the Customer Journey

Consumers are eager to enhance their shopping with AR/VR and AI, with a significant majority open to trying these technologies for fitting clothes, home decoration, and product research. Interest in AI for finding deals and resolving issues is also high. However, satisfaction levels with current AI shopping assistants are low, prompting companies to invest in improving these technologies for a better future shopping experience.

6. Is your Company AI ready?

This year is all about getting ready for AI (Artificial Intelligence). Many businesses, especially those not used to using AI, are trying hard to keep up. They need to quickly use AI to help their business grow. This shows how important it is for companies to come up with good plans for using AI.

Also, the people in charge of a company's data, like Chief Data Officers (CDOs) and Chief Information Officers (CIOs), are under a lot of pressure. They need to quickly create a plan for using AI, but it's hard because many are still trying to understand how it all works. This pressure comes from both the company's board and its employees. It's particularly challenging for those who were brought in to make big changes in digital technology over the last three years. Now, they have to prove they can keep up with the rapid changes in AI. The biggest challenges they face include figuring out how to use AI effectively, making sure they have the right skills in their teams, and managing the expectations of both their bosses and their teams.

7. Why It’s Time For A Chief AI Officer

As AI transforms work, companies need a leader for AI initiatives, called a Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO). This role ensures AI aligns with the company's goals, keeping AI efforts focused and strategic. Investors, like those critiquing Apple for its vague AI strategy, expect clear AI plans, especially for AI-centric businesses.

A CAIO can lead effective AI adoption and manage ethical and regulatory concerns, making sure AI use benefits the company without risking compliance. Whether this needs to be a C-level role depends on how central AI is to the company’s strategy. If AI is key to reshaping the business or culture, a CAIO is essential. Otherwise, a senior executive role might suffice.

In short, having a dedicated AI leader ensures AI projects are not just talk but lead to real, strategic advantages. Who leeds the overall AI Strategy in your company?

8. 12 new Jobs in the Age of AI

Generative AI is transforming the job market, creating roles that require a mix of technical skills, ethical understanding, and creative thinking. These new jobs, such as AI Prompt Engineers, Generative Design Specialists, and AI Ethicists, are about maximizing AI's potential while ensuring responsible use. This trend emphasizes the need for adaptability and ongoing learning in the workforce, urging both individuals and organizations to prepare for a future where AI collaboration is key to success.

9. AI-Powered KPIs: A Game Changer for Business Strategy

By using artificial intelligence, companies are creating 'smart KPIs' to better align their work with big-picture goals. These enhanced KPIs can predict future trends and suggest actions to take, making businesses more effective and unified. Research by MIT Sloan Management Review and Boston Consulting Group shows firms that applying AI to KPIs will greatly improve teamwork across departments. By treating KPIs as valuable assets and ensuring they're visible and interconnected, organizations can navigate modern market challenges with insight and agility, setting themselves up for success.

10. EU's New AI Rules: A Big Step Forward

The European Union has just made a big leap in managing artificial intelligence (AI) by moving the AI Act closer to becoming law. This Act creates rules for how AI can be used, banning certain uses and setting standards for high-risk applications. It aims to make sure AI is safe and respects people's rights while still allowing room for innovation. With all EU countries agreeing, the law is almost ready, setting an example for how the world might regulate AI in the future.

11. Microsoft's Trillion-Dollar AI Leap

Microsoft has reached a huge $3 trillion value, making it one of the top companies investing heavily in artificial intelligence (AI). This big step comes as Microsoft focuses more on AI, boosting its stock prices and investor confidence. It's only the second company, after Apple, to achieve this market value. Microsoft's push into AI, including big investments and new AI features in its products, is setting new standards in technology, showing how AI can help in areas like healthcare and education. With AI at its core, Microsoft is leading the way in showing the world the vast possibilities of technology.

12. Navigating the Shift: Marketing in an AI-Transformed World

Gartner's research shows big changes in how people use the internet. By 2028, they predict that brands will get half as much traffic from regular online searches because more people will be using AI for finding things online. This means marketers need to change how they use SEO to fit into an AI-driven world.

Also, Gartner says that by 2025, half of all people might stop using or use a lot less social media because they're tired of misinformation, mean behavior, and too many bots. A survey found that many people think social media is worse now than before, and adding more AI might make it even less enjoyable.

Because of these changes, companies need to think differently about how they reach customers. With AI changing how searches work, businesses that used to rely on showing up in search results need to try new ways to be seen online. Gartner suggests that chatbots and AI search could replace the way we search for things now, so marketers should start looking into other options to keep up with the times.

And that's the end of this edition! So many big news - it's a really exciting time to be involved! I am looking forward to hear your thoughts on all these topics.

I can't wait to share more with you in our next issue. Until then, stay curious and excited about all the things AI can do!
