Data centers are dominating energy discussions today. The rapid growth of AI has created an unprecedented demand for larger, more powerful data centers. Even with technological advances in energy efficiency, projections show that data centers will consume 11-12% of U.S. electricity by 2030—up from just 4.4% in 2023 (176 TWh).
The big question is: How do we power these energy-hungry data centers, both domestically and globally, without compromising on sustainability or grid stability?
Over the next few posts, I’ll dive into the options, challenges, and potential solutions to meet this growing demand. Stay tuned.
