The Death of School as we know it?
There is no doubt whatsoever that an AI-driven education revolution is imminent. It will not only accelerate students' understanding of concepts by completely personalising education based on learning styles but also fundamentally change the role of schools and the structure of society.
One of the most significant impacts of AI in education will be the rise of truly personalized learning. AI tutors will be able to adapt to each child's unique learning style, pace, and interests, providing tailored instruction that optimizes their intellectual growth. Much like the renowned tutors of ancient Greece who mentored great thinkers like Aristotle and Alexander the Great, these AI systems will foster a deep understanding of subjects and nurture each student's individual potential. By analyzing vast amounts of data on each child's performance and engagement, AI will continuously adjust the content, difficulty, and approach to ensure maximum learning efficiency.
However, this shift towards AI-powered education also presents significant challenges for parents and society. Schools have long served a dual purpose – not only as institutions of learning but also as de facto daycare centres, enabling parents to work while their children are safely supervised. As AI begins to replace traditional classroom instruction, particularly in the private school sector, the collapse of this system could have far-reaching consequences. Parents may struggle to find alternative childcare arrangements, leading to reduced workforce participation and economic disruption. Employers, too, will feel the impact as their employees grapple with these challenges.
In response to this upheaval, schools will need to redefine their role and value proposition. While AI may excel at teaching facts and skills, it is less adept at fostering the uniquely human capacities of critical thinking, creativity, and philosophical inquiry. This is where schools can step in, providing a space for students to engage in deep, tech-free discussions and debates that stimulate their imagination and develop their ability to grapple with complex ideas. By focusing on the humanities and encouraging students to explore big questions about ethics, society, and the human experience, schools can cultivate the next generation of visionary leaders and innovators.
But the big question is... Are schools, School Boards, Edcucation departments and even parents equipped or even able to adapt to this slow rolling technological tsumani? My sense is no. I believe that the private sector and companies like Skill Samurai Global HQ will become the schools of the future. I would love your opinion on the matter!
The ONE SKILL kids should learn.
We have spoken to many industry experts and there is a consensus that the one skill children should learn to be competitive in five years is coding and programming. This is despite the real possibility that AI will be doing a lot of coding in the next year or two.
This skill is foundational and will enable them to understand and interact with the AI in a much more intelligent and efficient way. Knowing the fundamentals behind how the technology works is certainly a key advantage. Professor J. Hughes

5 个月MiniMe Mindfulness would love to be part of your project, I find it fascinating how the future is evolving and although our subject matter is better taught face to face, we have an online version and are very much embracing Ai to future proof what we do. I’d be interested to chat. Kind regards, Tessa
