AI-Driven Medical Care? Here is a Reality Check.

Using AI to make healthcare more human. This is the noble vision of an ambitious project in Japan, in progress since April 2018.

The authors acknowledge that among the requisites to reach this vision are lots of data (how much?), automated record-keeping, a unified system and data-sharing among hospitals. In a later publication, the authors included accurate diagnosis (currently undesirable) as a critical requisite. Are these really feasible within any one country, never mind the whole world? Does pursuing this vision make business sense?

Here is more insight.

It would be interesting to hear opinions on this pushback and to learn about other perspectives.
