The following topics are dear to my heart. Artificial Intelligence (AI), Diversity-Inclusion (say DI) in an Organization and Nature.
I find it fascinating that Diversity brings tremendous value wherever it manifests itself. Be it an Organization or AI or Nature.
Diversity-Inclusion (DI) in an Organization: We all come from different walks of life. We have different ethnicities, background, experiences, ideas etc. Such diversity in thoughts and actions brings tremendous value to an organization. It allows us to see the same business problem from different perspectives. This prevents Executives from being blind-sided and helps them make optimal decisions for their organization. Differing views on the same problem are not to be frowned upon but celebrated as long as the intent is to solve the problem. Lee Iacocca once said 'If you and I always agree, one of us is unnecessary'!

Artificial Intelligence (AI): A very common class of Machine Learning (ML) algorithm is called Supervised ML. In these algorithms, we provide training data. The algorithm learns from this training data and then it is able to make predictions on new/unseen data. There is always a concern that the ML prediction may go wrong if the new/unseen data is very different from what it has been trained on. To avoid this situation, the training data should be as diverse as possible. In fact, I always ask my team to purposely 'inject' edge cases in to the training set. Much like training the Tesla Autopilot/FSD algorithm would want to learn from edge cases such as road construction. That way, the Tesla knows what to do when it sees road construction while driving autonomously.
Nature: Diversity in nature helps maintain ecosystem stability and resilience, increases genetic variation, and promotes adaptation to changing environments. It also provides crucial ecosystem services such as pollination, soil formation, and pest control, and supports human livelihoods through the provision of food, medicine, and other resources.

2 周This insightful contribution highlights how diversity in organizations, AI, and nature drives innovation, resilience, and smarter decision making across industries. Great topic! I've talked about it focusing on how to move from theory to action with a roadmap for companies to implement AI-driven D&I initiatives. 2 年Diversity is the DNA of life and Mother Nature. It is an interesting point that you bring forward, for AI to be successful it will have to adopt the DNA ie diversity.
