AI to detect early stage Lung Cancer

Our mission at Qure.ai has always been to use AI to make healthcare more accessible and affordable. This World Cancer Day, we are committing to enhance our efforts to fight Lung Cancer, a disease which accounts for 25% of all cancer-related deaths. According to American Lung Association, the 5-year survival rate for lung cancer is 56% for cases detected when the disease is still localized (within the lungs). However, only 16% the cases are diagnosed at that stage. A critical fact is that early detection can reduce lung cancer mortality by up to 20%. Coupled with the advent of new drugs, this has significant implications in managing the disease.  

Every year, more than a billion chest X-rays are performed globally for various diagnostic reasons. It is the most widely available and affordable imaging diagnostic test. There is so much information hidden within a simple chest X-ray which AI can unearth. Our AI solution qXR can interpret chest X-rays and detect small lung nodules which could be indicative of lung cancer. Patients who are identified with such incidental nodules can then undergo further diagnostic investigation for lung cancer as per physician’s recommendation. This can potentially help detect Lung Cancer early when the patient might not even be experiencing any symptoms of the disease. 

Our recent partnership with AstraZeneca is a big step in our fight against lung cancer, using qXR for the early detection of Lung Cancer in Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa in primary care settings.
