The Pioneers of Nuclear-Powered Data Centers

Amazon?Web Services (AWS) is investing over $500 million in nuclear power, announcing three projects from Virginia to Washington State. AWS has signed an agreement with Dominion Energy to develop a small modular reactor (SMR) near the North Anna nuclear power station in Virginia. Additionally, AWS will fund the development, licensing, and construction of four SMRs in Washington State with Energy Northwest.

Microsoft has signed a deal with Constellation Energy to revive a defunct reactor at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant. Also, Bill Gates has made significant investments in nuclear energy through his company, TerraPower, which he founded in 2008. Gates has invested over $1 billion into TerraPower, which is currently constructing the Natrium nuclear power plant in Kemmerer, Wyoming.?

Google?has signed a deal with Kairos Power to purchase energy from a fleet of small modular reactors (SMRs). The first reactor is expected to be operational by 2030, with additional reactors coming online by 2035.
