In today's digital age, customer relationship management (CRM) has become a critical aspect of running a successful business. The introduction of AI to the masses has increased even more the interest from SaaS companies on how to include AI in their current offerings at closer more intricate manner. Salesforce & Microsoft both leading CRM providers and have both been innovating in those areas for while now.

AI prior to the Popularity

I have personally worked in Power Automate projects in back in 2021 using AI. However those projects on Microsoft power platform as in many other PaaS or SaaS back then utilised AI in a backend approach with rather singular job function dedicated to the AI, in this case the AI module would analyse specific highlights section of a repeating financial document template and extract IDs, Figures and address from those handwritten documents. I am sure there were already at that time other approaches but this is one that comes to mind of a “Backend AI” if you like.

The role of AI in CRM will be an important one, why do I say that? Well, we have the usual approach until now where AI would gather a subset of data and provide pinpointed and almost bullet point like steps in forecasting and next action points.

What has changed now when integrated fully is the application of AI is now more diverse if considered the Large Language Models, Integration to other tools on visual tools, ability to write content, utilising data sources across the web and all of that plus using “managed corporate data”.

Salesforce EinsteinGPT Approach

Salesforce has integrated GPT as well as Clause into their ecosystem and bu utilising the power of these platforms offer some great features for business.

But first, a quick breakdown what Claude or Anthropic's Claude platform is, it is an AI technology that can be integrated be integrated via API. In Salesforce approach it can help enhance the CRM's decision-making capabilities with human-like understanding and reasoning. So in small subset of examples Claude and EinsteinGPT can benefit SaaS in many ways, including:

  1. Optimize customer journey analysis for personalized experiences.
  2. Enable advanced sentiment analysis for targeted marketing strategies.
  3. Streamline complex business workflows through intelligent process automation.
  4. Enhance customer support with efficient issue resolution.
  5. Facilitate data-driven decision making by interpreting large datasets with human-like cognition.

Some practical features which Salesforce user would be familiar from their day to day are list below:

  • Email Writing in different cadences and context
  • Create Lead Generating Page
  • Auto Generation Insights and Analysis Graphs
  • Analyse and respond to tickets
  • Automation Creation with Flows
  • Automation & Integration by Writing Code
