AI Content – Frightening But Exciting!

AI Content – Frightening But Exciting!

Along with many other editors, when I first heard about the power of AI, I was afraid of being inundated with plagiarised work from AI-generated writing.

My Perspective Shifted

But as I started to explore AI's capabilities and its potential for enhancing the writing process, my perspective started to shift. I began to see how AI could help my team of writers and freelancers to be more creative and efficient, ultimately leading to a better experience for our readers.

Head-to-Head Test With My Writers

Of course, the use of AI in editing is not new. We have all been using spell checkers and grammar checkers for years. The difference between these tools and today’s AI is that the AI can write an entire article or even a book for you. But here’s the reason why my writers will not be replaced- in a head-to-head test, my writers came up with new, crazy, ideas and thoughts and out-of-the-box thinking, whilst the AI did not – it was super quick, but could only regurgitate. The AI is only as good as the questions the human asks.

I like AI because it can be a catalyst to start the creative process and then it quickly identifies areas for improvement, helping writers to refine their work and make it more engaging for readers.

AI Can Streamline The Editing Process

One of the benefits of the current generation of AI is how it is helping me to streamline the editing process, allowing me to focus on the more creative aspects of my role. For example, AI can handle the more tedious tasks like fact-checking, freeing up my time to work on more complex projects and collaborate with my team.

But perhaps the most exciting aspect of AI for me is its potential to inspire creativity in writers. AI-powered tools can provide writers with prompts and suggestions for storylines, and angles. This can spark new ideas and bring a fresh perspective to the writing process, ultimately resulting in more engaging and unique content for our readers.

Challenges Remain

Of course, there are still challenges to overcome when it comes to incorporating AI into the writing and editing process. For example, ensuring that the content produced by AI is original and not plagiarised is a top priority. But with the right systems in place, such as using plagiarism checkers, AI can enhance the creativity and efficiency of writers, ultimately leading to a better experience for readers.

Looking back on my journey with AI so far, I'm amazed at how much my perspective has shifted. What started as fear and scepticism has turned into excitement and anticipation. I believe AI has made the job of the editor less tedious and expanded the possibilities for more creativity and depth of writing. I can't wait to see where this technology takes us next.
