AI is Changing Business Analysis Tools!

I have been following Business Analysis tools for decades! For many years, requirements and analysis tools have primarily been used by large companies with mature BA practices or by organizations seeking a 'silver bullet' to improve requirements quality—only to later realize that these tools cannot compensate for poor business analysis or a lack of essential BA skills.

In the beginning they were simply requirements repositories that we entered text based requirements and they were traced through the SDLC from elicitation to implementation.

Then came more capabilities in visual modeling, workflows, and document creation capabilities. Soon after, we started seeing more lateral traceability capabilities tracing requirements information to other requirements information and models, not just through the SDLC.

In about 2012, I started seeing tools experiment with AI and writing requirements for us. Some of these tools were way ahead of their time, and did not last. In the last year or so, I am seeing a HUGE leap in how tools are leveraging AI to help business analysis happen faster, and with better quality when appropriately augmented with a good BA practice and skills.

What I have seen recently in BA tools is so dramatic, it is fundamentally changing our role and facilitating advancing the profession. We no longer can ignore this or hope our org will support tool usage.

Tools are more accessible, leveraging AI on levels that are truly freeing BAs to perform more meaningful work.

I am deeply concerned that our work is changing fast, and many are not keeping up at the pace we need to. And, for this reason, I have decided to dedicate a portion of my time to educating BAs globally on how tools are changing our profession with AI.

I have created an online space, and a series of FREE events highlighting BA & Requirements Tools that are leveraging AI.
