AI cannot create an authentic bond with your customers!

Everywhere we turn today, AI is the one word that is coming to the forefront.

Artificial intelligence is everywhere.

Although it is not writing this article, Grammarly is in the background checking grammar and spelling and making suggestions on sentence structure to create the proper emphasis and impact. However, I am in the forefront, deciding whether the AI suggestions will be accepted, modified or rejected as I see fit.

AI has enabled us to write faster, but has it helped us to be more authentic?

Too many people and organizations have decided that "good enough," when writing utilizing AI, justifies being banal and average.

They have eliminated their copywriters and downsized their marketing departments, giving up quality for quantity, and human intelligence and experience for speed and wage savings.

The question is, does doing so enable you to differentiate yourself with your clients and be more profitable in the end?

AI is based on past learning. It amalgamates vast amounts of data and develops prose based on algorithms. There is no heart or soul; therefore, the writing is based on the middle of the bell curve where your true champions congregate along the edges.

How can you speak to the few who are champions for your cause and promoters of your brand by aiming your correspondence at the average person who has little need, desire or opportunity to buy what you have to sell?

Suppose you truly want to differentiate yourself from your competition and not be seen as yet another commodity that is easily replaced and soon forgotten. In that case, you need to speak in the language of those who have the opportunity to buy and the actual need for what you have to sell.

You must be authentic and specific and hope to create a genuine bond with those you wish to influence.

AI cannot do that.

AI does speed up processes and does provide valuable suggestions. However, you need professionals within your organization who can realize if those suggestions are of value to your audience and then reframe the original suggestions so that they speak in your brand's voice.

Is AI continually getting better? YES.

Is AI in the right hands a helpful tool? YES.

However, AI cannot be an authentic voice of your brand because AI needs to care about your customers, which it never will. It treats your customers like everyone else's and, therefore, does not enable you to create anything more than a superficial bond with them.

AI does not, nor will it ever care specifically about your business and therefore it cannot communicate authentically with your clientele.

If you are already in the commodity arena, price-driven and treat your customers like interchangeable cogs, then AI-driven marketing is perfectly acceptable.

However, if you genuinely care about your customers, and you desire for them to care about you, why would you leave communicating with them in the hands of a machine?
