AI can shove that ??up it's arse. If it had one.
Every single piece of AI-created content is identifiable by a few really easy-to-spot things:
But given that people are using it constantly now, I tested 3 AI tools to see how they worked and which one is best:
Taplio is an interesting one, as it takes viral stuff, rewrites it, and generates content based on your previous posts. Out of all of them, I have the highest hopes for this one.
We'll ignore the "give it a good prompt" bollocks because very few people learn how to do that. So we're acting like someone who just asks the question.
The prompt will be:
Create a LinkedIn post about no-filter marketing. Keep it conversational and don't sound like AI.
With the posts, I'll then edit them into something I'd be happy to post and talk through my reasoning for the changes.
Let's see the results:

?? No Filter Marketing: It’s a movement, not a trend.
We’ve all seen the perfect, curated posts—flawless products, immaculate offices, everything just... too good to be true. But the truth is, people connect with realness. Authenticity wins every time.
Whether you’re building your personal brand or representing a company, showing your true self—imperfections and all—is what grabs attention and keeps people coming back.
Here’s why it works: ?? People trust people, not perfection. ?? It humanizes your brand. ?? Your story (the real one) is more relatable than a polished image.
The next time you're tempted to hit “edit” one more time, remember: your story is powerful without filters. Trust that.

Tired of those overly polished, filtered brand images that feel inauthentic? Me too. It's time for a dose of reality!
No filter marketing is about embracing the raw, unedited side of your brand. Let's ditch the perfection and connect on a deeper level. Who's with me on this movement?"

Share your thoughts below!
Thoughts:
Right. Gemini is shit. Bin that right off. It gives you no hook, no reason why it's worth taking a no-filter approach. Just generic nonsense with no purpose that I'd expect a 5 year old to be ashamed of.
Chat GPT and Taplio, give you a lot to work with.
Let's start with Chat GPT.
Lets pull out the best bits:
See, good amount to work with.
Let's look at the hook. The best sentence there is the last one- your story is powerful without filters.
Preach sister. That's our hook. Then I'll reword the too good to be true to sound like me.
The why is also good, so that's a quick edit as well. Here goes:
Your story is powerful without filters

Too many people rely on bullshit filters that make life look amazing when in reality everything is turning to shit. You don't need some rags-to-riches story about saving a fly that lost its wings and what it taught you about business.
Your personal brand means showing who you are, and that means when shit hits the fan too. That's what makes people invested in you.
Everyone knows most of social media is fake nonsense. People will buy into you if you don't showcase perfection. Add some personality and humanity to what you're building.
And tell your real story. Challenges, failures, successes- all of it. It means more than OMG look how amazing I am.
I'll die on this hill if I must... Let's turn LinkedIn into a no-filter platform. This isn't the start of a trend. It's the start of a movement.
Time to make it happen.
Ok, so a bit longer, but that took me 2:34 seconds to edit. All in all, from getting the post to finishing the edits, 3:58. Better than the 10 minutes of looking at a blank screen wondering what to write.
Moving on to Taplio...
First off, I'm not diving into anything. Nor asking people to share their thoughts. It's just weird.
However, slightly different take, smaller and easier to digest, and pretty much all of it is solid. Good hook with the death of traditional marketing, the body makes some good points and asks for engagement (excluding the beggy behaviour).
Here goes...
Traditional marketing is dead.
Fck the polished facades. Fck making everything look perfect.
Embrace authenticity. Connect with your ideal client by being you. Share your story. Your failures as well as your success. People want that real connection, the feeling of relatability and knowing someone has gone through what they are going through.
If you can drop the filter, and share stories and experiences without pretence, what do you think will happen? People will trust you to be open and honest with them.
And when people trust you, they work with you.
Have you ever tried removing the mask and showing your life exactly how it is? What was the response?
That took 2:12, and 3:02 in total. The edits themselves were a change in sentence structure to suit my style, and rewording it slightly to make it flow better. But tbf, didn't feel like I had to do loads of work to get to that as a result.
Final Thoughts
AI isn't the answer to your content prayers, but it gives you something to work with. If you copy and paste what it produces, then more fool you. Because by putting in that bit of extra work, you will end up with some decent copy.
What I would say is that if you want to use AI for your content, then spend the time editing it fully. Literally read through every sentence and ask if it sounds like you, and would you word it a different way. Out of those two bits of content, I kept 2 lines exactly the same and changed everything else.
Put more work in and the results will be better.
But, what about the AI itself?
Chat GPT needed a bit more work, but mainly as it was longer. And it's free. That's always the winner here as Taplio isn't. It can produce better posts with better prompts, but it'll still need editing. You can get it to produce multiple posts, but I've found they tend to be a bit samey. But if you're looking for something free to give you a base, this is a solid option.
Gemini is shit. Don't bother. You'd be better off paying a monkey to write it. You'll get better results. Seriously, fck Gemini.
Taplio then. This I think actually has legs and I'm going to be testing this a lot more. The whole set-up took a bit of time, and it's given me a 7-day free trial that I'll take advantage of. Things I like:
Things I don't like:
All in all, though, I am a fan. I'll let you know how it goes! Or better still, I'll drop some edited AI posts in with my usual posts and see if you can tell the difference!
