AI can help managers focus on productivity, not time
As we continue to navigate the future of work, artificial intelligence (AI) presents an opportunity to fundamentally change the relationship between managers and employees. Traditionally, managers have been focused on tracking inputs, such as time spent at work, rather than productivity. But AI can change that.
AI can help managers understand how employees work, what tasks they excel at, and how they can be more productive. By tracking data on employee performance, AI can help managers better understand how their employees work and what they need to do to be more productive. This can lead to better communication, more effective training, and more targeted coaching.
However, AI should not be seen as a replacement for human managers. Instead, it should be used to augment their abilities. AI can help managers better understand their employees and help them make better decisions. It can also help employees better understand their own work and how they can improve.
This is an opportunity for managers to focus on productivity, not time. By using AI to better understand their employees, they can shift their focus to outcomes rather than inputs. This can lead to a more engaged workforce, better business results, and a more positive work culture.

But as with any new technology, there are risks. AI can be used to monitor and control employees, which could lead to increased stress and decreased productivity. It's important for managers to use AI in a way that benefits their employees and doesn't just serve the needs of the organization.
By embracing AI as a tool for productivity and growth, we can create a better future of work for everyone. But to do this, we need to come together as a society and embrace our vulnerabilities. We need to recognize that AI is not a panacea and that it's only as good as the people who use it. We need to work together to ensure that AI is used ethically and transparently, and that it benefits everyone, not just a select few.
By embracing diversity and coming together to collaborate on AI development and implementation, we can create a more equitable and just society. We can ensure that everyone has a seat at the table and that the benefits of AI are distributed fairly. And we can demonstrate our humanity by prioritizing the well-being and dignity of all people, regardless of their race, gender, or socioeconomic status.

1 年I'd like to present an alternative. We've become so focused on time management and productivity we are forgetting the human factor. Recently this has led to the scourge of productivity - which is a recipe for burnout. Instead of tracking time or boosting productivity, how about we track degree of challenge, time in flow, effective skills to figure out where there is room for growth, where people need support, when people need a break, and create a more precise way of guiding and supporting mental health. Productivity is important, and having clear vectors for better control of productivity is worthwhile. But there is an inherent danger that we will lose the human factor if we push productivity to the fore.
