?? AI Breakthroughs: Nobel Prizes, Robo Taxis & More..
Hello and welcome to this special edition of our AI newsletter! ??
This week, we're celebrating an extraordinary milestone in AI and science: Google DeepMind leaders Demis Hassabis and John Jumper have been awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their pioneering work on AlphaFold. This AI-driven model, developed under their leadership, accurately predicts 3D protein structures, a breakthrough that accelerates scientific discovery in areas like biochemistry and drug design.
But that’s just the beginning! Along with AlphaFold’s recognition, we have plenty more exciting AI news for you this week—from Tesla's robotaxis, to fresh breakthroughs in generative AI to new collaborations and industry updates. So, let’s dive into it all together! ?

?? Tesla We, Robot Show
From Optimus humanoid robots making cocktails, to unveiling the latest additions to the Tesla family - fully autonomous Cybercab, and Robovans without any steering wheel or pedals, this was quite the week in Elon's world.
Priced at $20-30K a piece, humanoid Optimus robots were showcased at the event. Elon said one could have "genuinely useful humanoid robots in low production for Tesla internal use next year (2025)". He claimed they can help you with anything you need - from household chores, to babysitting, mowing lawns, fetching groceries, or walking dogs.
? Features: The Cybercab is fully autonomous, with no steering wheel or pedals. It uses an inductive charging system instead of a NACS port. Projected to cost <$30K, with production set to start in 2026. The concept is that one will be able to own it & earn money by using it as a Robotaxi, when e.g. on holiday.
? Operating Cost: Musk estimated the Cybercab's operational cost would be around 20 cents per mile, with the price including taxes and fees at 30 to 40 cents per mile. Robovan could be a more cost effective option, fitting up to 20 people, and at a cost of 5-10 cents a mile.
