GOOGLE RELEASES CHATGPT COMPETITOR

Google recently launched an experimental conversational AI service called Bard, which is powered by Google's Language Model for Dialogue Applications. The company currently offers access to trusted testers before making the service widely available in the coming weeks. Bard is likely Google's response to ChatGPT.?

Here are some key things that stood out in the announcement:

  1. It says, “Bard draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses.” That sounds like it may be able to scrape the web for information where, as ChatGPT is not able to.?
  2. It also gives an example of how you can use Bard to learn more about the best strikers in football right now. That sounds like it has up-to-date information vs ChatGPT only has info up to 2021

We are eager to test the service and see how it compares to ChatGPT. Sadly, we don’t know the official release date.

TIKTOK PLANS FOR TRANSPARENCY

TikTok has recently revealed its plan to separate US-based data from the rest of the world and build a monitoring and compliance infrastructure through a project called "Project Texas." Despite attempts to gain more information, details on the plan remain limited, leaving questions about the trustworthiness of TikTok's data security measures. With Oracle being designated as the key oversight team, many are questioning the credibility of this arrangement. This raises concerns over the accessibility of TikTok's data from anywhere in the world, even if it is stored on Oracle Cloud's US servers. As security researcher Klon Kitchen (as quoted by the Platformer) points out, TikTok's strategy bears similarities to the controversial approach used by Huawei.

ELLE MILLS REVEALS WHY SHE QUIT YOUTUBE

In a recent New York Times article, YouTube creator Elle Mills opens up about her journey on the platform and why she decided to step away. Her story sheds light on the complex nature of the creator economy, where creators strive to be seen and share their authentic selves while also turning themselves into a product to be sold.

Mills highlights the addictive validation that comes with being on the platform, but also acknowledges the dark side where the pressure to constantly perform and remain relevant can lead to a cycle of depression, anxiety, and even panic attacks. She encourages creators to use platforms like YouTube to open opportunities, but not at the cost of sacrificing their well-being.

This powerful piece is a must-read for anyone in the creator economy, especially for those who may relate to Mills' story. Unfortunately, her experiences are not unique, and as creators, it is important to keep in mind the potential impact that these platforms can have on one's mental health.

SUPREME COURT COULD CHANGE SOCIAL MEDIA

The future of online content is under review as the Supreme Court revisits Section 230. It's a crucial law that protects social platforms from being held responsible for user-generated content. As the Supreme Court is set to revisit this law, it is important to understand the potential implications it could have on popular platforms such as Reddit, Wikipedia, Yelp, and Discord, among others.

It is not uncommon for governments to struggle with comprehending the intricacies of technology and the internet, and this case is no different. The outcome of this review could significantly impact the way we consume and create content online. We’ll be watching and reporting on the changes as it progresses.
