AI & Automation ? Where innovation meets optimization.

Should the prediction of Vernor Vinge , who invented the term "singularity" in 1993, come true? That before 2030 we would have created the superhuman intelligences and shortly after - the era of humanity would end. Salespeople would no longer be necessary, and this superhuman intelligence would treat us like animals.

Or how would the recent article by Thomas Druyen , director of the Institute for Future Management at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna, affect sales? He mentioned that the transhumanism movement is trying to work on extending the human condition by using advanced technologies such as AI to overcome aging, physical and mental limitations. The hope is to reach a future age far beyond what is currently considered natural, which is 300 years or more?

The latest J.P. Morgan study “Business Leaders Outlook 2024 ” underscores that with the public launch of Chat GPT, we're witnessing one of the fastest mass adoptions of new technologies ever. Consider that it took less than a decade for smartphones to be used daily by nearly everyone around the world. The survey even highlights that more than 46% of executives say they are already using or plan to use AI tools.

The theory that the more intelligent treating the less intelligent "like animals" is absurd. On the contrary, I would argue that brutal aggression has always been directed against the more intelligent ones. Therefore, it is more likely that humans would pose an existential threat to AI than that a superhuman intelligence would try to wipe us humans out.

Friedrich A. von Hayek , another brilliant mind of the Austrian School of Economics, recognized that the more advanced a society becomes, the less important individual knowledge becomes in relative terms. It seems that sales and marketing today are experimenting with a reduction in necessary skills with fully automated speech-to-text, text correction, instant creation of graphics and video, and the ability to instantly deliver highly intelligent text with different flavors and lengths like never before. This is all just the beginning and the first wave of AI helping and assisting us.

There is no doubt that the current breakthrough in AI is far-reaching because it is a new enabling technology. Every new basic technology is overestimated in the short term, but its long-term consequences are underestimated. It is very interesting that every new technology takes a surprisingly long time to translate into new productivity. The reason for this lies in the production processes, which are always complex connections between people and structures. I've mentioned this before - people don’t like change, they don't want to create new structures - we can testify to this with our own customers.

This is the reason that digitalization is still much less advanced than many people think. Many processes, even in productive companies, but above all, of course, in unproductive authorities and organizations have remained unchanged for centuries and stubbornly defy new technical possibilities because familiar people, structures and procedures are preferred.

A good example is the substitution of horses. The number of horses declined slowly but rapidly, and we can expect the same for AI. In the short term, the number of people in jobs that can be done better and cheaper by AI is likely to continue to grow before declining sharply. Efficiency in information processing, problem solving, and learning by reducing cognitive load will allow us humans to focus on more complex and creative tasks. AI systems will also support human decision-making by analyzing and processing complex data, hopefully leading to more objective decisions. In our context, this means that the sales manager will be able to develop better strategies, manage risk more effectively, and act in a more solution-oriented manner. You may have seen the TV series "Suites " - Harvey had an assistant - Donna - she knew everything, organized, and managed him perfectly. I think very soon we will all have a Donna - our personal AI assistant – we already created the first AI version in Pipeliner and called it - Voyager!
