AI Agent Paradigm
Digital Twin of a Human Agent

AI Agent Paradigm

AI Agents promise to revolutionize how we interact with technology, performing complex tasks autonomously and adapting to our needs. From virtual assistants to autonomous systems in various industries, AI Agents are poised to transform human-machine collaboration while enhancing our daily lives and business operations.

I wish I had digital assistants to handle repetitive or unpleasant tasks.

If you find yourself handling a tedious process that you’d rather delegate, it’s a strong indicator for implementing an AI Agent. Likewise, if individuals are burdened with repetitive tasks, deploying an AI Agent can streamline their workload, boost efficiency, and even enhance job satisfaction. So, where do you begin??

Digital Twin Thinking?

AI Agents don’t have to mimic humans.?

An AI Agent can be designed to automate tasks and interact with users conversationally. One common way to conceptualize an AI Agent is as a virtual mirror (twin) of a person, product, or process:?

  • Personified: Representing roles like experts or assistants. E.g. chat with your barista agent about the perfect espresso.?

  • Product Twin: Acting as virtual representation of a device. E.g. discuss with your coffee machine agent its features to optimize espresso-making.?

  • Process Twin: Enabling interaction with a workflow or task. E. g. consult a brewing process agent to fine-tune the perfect brewing method.?

This methodology, known as Twin Thinking (or "twinking"), enables the creation of intelligent and interactive agents that provide seamless and engaging user experiences. Start by defining the AI Agent’s persona and the specific “job” it will fulfill. Leveraging agentic behavior allows for quick validation of whether the approach aligns with the intended objectives.?

A simple exercise for an easy start: Whenever I face a difficult topic, I practice it with the digital mirror of the real conversation partner (sometimes called a Socratic Opponent). Whether it’s a salary negotiation with my boss, a discussion with my tax advisor, or even a family conflict. While it doesn’t always resolve the issue, it often sparks inspiration and is usually pretty fun.
