AI Age
In this article, I would like to do the opposite of that famous question: "How do you see yourself 5 years from now?". I would like instead to travel back and try to remember how were our lives in the past.
If I could look to myself 10 years ago, I would say that I was working as an IT Advocate, trying to convince Clients how important would be Technology aligned to their businesses. Something that may sound unimaginable nowadays, and could even insult a Client inteligence. Every business owner comes to the market already with this premise. This is not anymore a leveraging factor of IT companies and professionals. Maybe now the way to go would be "Ok, you know this is important. Let us help you with that. We have the expertise required.".
Also, If I could go back to more recently, let's say, 5 years ago, I remember that I was talking to my wife, and she challenged me, saying:
-"Robots will take humans jobs".
That made me angry, I confess. And I immediately reply:
-"Of course not, Who would fix the robots?".
And then, she came with an unexpected reply:
-"A robot fixer Robot".
Even willing badly to reply her, I confess that what she said made me sleep on it, because it made a lot of sense.

Some time after this conversation, AI started to become more popular. And now businesses are not anymore only checking how Technology can help them. Instead, companies are finding ways to apply AI to enhance their productivity and achieve their results faster with less cost. Companies like Adobe, Amazon, Google and Microsoft, in the initiative of following up this boom, are coming up with solutions aligned with Artificial Intelligence.
Microsoft recently came up with Fabric and Designer, two technologies that will add to their corporative solutions and will be AI driven. This took me again to my wife, and we were in the opposite sides than before, and she said:
-"Don't worry, Somebody did draw Microsoft Designer".
That made me think at first, but now I was the one who challenged her, saying:
-"What if they didn't focus on the design of it, and after implemented, they asked the AI to recreate it's own UI?".
So, yeah, I confess that even working always to be updated into the Technologies, I am conservative to AI. But it's here. It's happening.
But please, this post goal is not to say that we should shut it down, or even to scare people saying that they will lose their jobs (not even that Skynet will take over the world haha). I myself believe that AI will be more a tool than a replacement. The suggestion I'm making is that the conversation about it is needed. So, we should try to understand how we will approach to it, as we did in the Technology evolution.
Lastly, I should say that I'm working on a company that is approaching this subject in one of the best ways I have seen. They are valuating their employees, addressing the situation with a deep understanding of it, and engaging the most valuable qualities that comes only with a human being, those which AI will be a help tool to our skills, but never replace us.
