AI Academy - Reflections and coming-up next

Dear Valued AI Academy Member,

Our Human Bytes AI Academy has been alive and thriving for six incredible months now, and what a fulfilling journey it's been so far!

The ambition with creating the academy for our Nordic, Belgian and Dutch audience is to bring fresh perspectives, inspiration and specific clinical use-cases for applied AI for healthcare. It is to discuss myths, barriers and misunderstandings to simplify your path towards adopting these incredibly helpful AI tools that solve critical health system bottle necks locally and nationwide.

If you haven't already, make sure to subscribe to the Human Bytes AI Academy newsletter to not miss the next educational webinar, here or by clicking below.

Our initial goal could be characterized as "aim low and exceed your goal" as we targeted 100 AI Academy newsletter subscribers back in December at inception.

A few stats then for the stats lovers:

  • We closed Day 1 with 200+ subscribers and
  • fast forward to today, we’re thrilled and humbled to have over 1,100 of you joining us by now!
  • Moreover, our newsletters have been viewed more than 18,000 times in the past 6 months!

So, a big big "Thank You!" to you and your curiousity towards how AI can immediately enhance patient outcomes and improve health economics.

...and a few more stats ??

As of today, we hosted over 10 webinars with several hundred participants who dedicated up to 45 minutes of their busy day(s) to tune in. If you missed any, don’t worry – you can catch up on the recordings and enjoy them in the summer sun with a refreshing drink. ????

Some of the highlights of season 1:

1. The Intelligent Ward: Learn about the real-time intelligent ward with sensor technology and AI interpretation. How to continuously measure vital signs to prevent critical complications, reduce staff (workload) overload. How does the AI create peace of mind for patients and staff, while enabling patients at home. Read the teaser by clicking on the picture below. Note: this webinar recording is available on qualified request only. Please contact Ulrik Juul Rokkedal Therkildsen on Linkedin or at [email protected].

2. AI in Radiotherapy - Present and Future: Learn how AI helps / will help

  • Automate while at the same time increase the quality of adaptive therapy decisions
  • Predict dose plans for auto-planning to fully democratize adaptive therapy
  • Assist in local dose control by predicting local characterization of tumors
  • Combine histopathology with imaging to predict tumor proliferation for new cases
  • Combine possible synergies of radiotherapy and immunutherapy

3. Pitfalls and insights of radiotherapy AI auto-contouring procurement & clinical introduction: An exciting and insightful journey of the Haukeland universitetssjukehus presented by Lukas Hirschi (Medical Physicist, Radiotherapy). Lukas's talk was a deep-dive into the intricacies of how to and what to be aware of when procuring as well as introducing AI automation into the radiotherapy clinical routine.

4. Radiology: Learn about two ready-to-deploy AI solutions offering immediate value. Breast screening and fracture detection.

  • AI for Breast Cancer Screening: Presented by ScreenPoint Medical , this session covered how AI reduces workload by 45%, decreases false positives by 30%, and boosts cancer detection by 20%, especially for small invasive cancers.

  • Fracture Detection in the Emergency Room: Christian Pedersen (Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at Aalborg Universitetshospital in Region Nordjylland) shared his experience with AI, detailing how it has drastically reduced waiting times and almost completely eliminated patient claims, while also serving as a powerful tool for competency development. • Prostate Cancer Detection with AI: With new guidelines requiring MRIs before biopsies, radiologists face increased pressure. Quibim's QP-Prostate? AI tool leads in precision medicine and cancer lesion detection. In this webinar, Dr. Kai Vilanova, MD, PhD, discussed optimizing prostate study workflows for better patient outcomes and reduced workload using AI advancements in prostate cancer detection after a product overview by David Bazaga, Product Lead at Quibim.

  • AI based on MRI & PET for neurological disorders: In this AI Academy session, Dr. Elena Bonke from our partner Combinostics showcased the benefits from automatic AI-based brain quantification when using MRI, PET or DAT SPECT. Combinostics’ cNeuro platform is used widely today across the Nordic countries with clear value creation for patients and health economics. In addition to concrete customer experiences, this webinar also discussed the latest research from some of the leading stakeholders across the world.
