AI-A Game Changer for Marketing

I just returned from Social Media Marketing World, the marketing industry’s largest conference focused on the latest and greatest trends in social media. The sessions that were standing-room only were focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how AI is impacting marketing.

AI is the process of creating machines or programs which can think, learn, and make decisions. AI is the branch of computer science focused on creating intelligent machines able to respond to complex situations similar to the way humans do.

One of the speakers at the conference, Paul Roetzer , author of Marketing Artificial Intelligence: AI, Marketing, and the Future of Business, and founder and CEO of Marketing AI Institute stated 80% of what marketers do every day will be intelligently automated to some degree in the next 2-3 years. He went on to say that AI won’t replace marketers but marketers who use AI will replace marketers who don’t.

The most talked about app at the conference was ChatGPT. ChatGPT launched on November 30, 2022, setting a record for the fastest-growing app ever, by gaining 100 million users in just two months. ChatGPT is an AI chatbot (char robot) that generates conversations using natural language. It was created by OpenAI, a research laboratory founded by some of the biggest names in tech and now owned by Microsoft, Corp. I highly recommend downloading ChatGPT and experimenting with it. It is very easy to use.

Other content creation tools include Dall-E also owned by OpenAI which can create digital images from prompts (natural language descriptions), and Gen 1 which can generate videos containing text images or video clips. I also discovered Anyword AI- The starter plan includes a data-driven editor, blog creator and website targeted message creator. All these tools offer introductory versions for free. These AI tools will help to quickly improve writing and rapidly create visuals.

As marketers, we need to embrace these tools and learn how to use them. Using AI will help us scale our business enabling us to take on more work as well as create more persuasive emails, ads, scripts, web pages and connect more effectively to the right audience. Start experimenting with these tools and think about how you can incorporate them into your work flow, increasing efficiency as well as creating better engagement with your target audience.

Love this recap!! I've been playing around with AI tools and figuring out how to leverage them in my marketing content without replacing the human touch. I've been having fun getting support with additional headlines / hooks for social media captions as well as email content!

Thanks for sharing and summarizing the great AI tools mentioned at the conference. They are game changers and can help get the creative juices flowing, but they will never replace human opinion and creativity. Case in point. I asked ChatGPT to react to this article, and it responded. "I'm sorry, as an AI language model, I don't have emotions or opinions to react to the article. However, I can provide some insights based on the content of the article." ChatGPT then proceeded to summarize the article.
