AI 2.0 as Co-Creator

Imagine a world where every musician can realize their creative vision without the constraints of time, place, or resources. In this world, artificial intelligence (AI) is not a threat but a loyal companion, a true partner in creation. I am Rinat Keinan, an expert in innovation and product development and a lecturer in the field of artificial intelligence at "Rimon" School of Music, and I want to share with you how AI can become the ultimate co-creator, and what that means for us.

Fear of the New

When AI started gaining public attention, many musicians feared it would replace them. The fear was natural – how could they maintain their place in a world where machines can create music, art, and content? However, I emphasize that it is those with only one skill who should be worried. In an era where everything changes rapidly, we have the opportunity to expand our horizons and become more creative with the help of technology.

Our Evolution with AI

Our Evolution with AI

Stage One: Developing Expressive Ability

The first evolution is making AI a partner in creation by developing expressive ability. Musicians learn to use tools like ChatGPT to express themselves more freely and creatively. If we once relied solely on writing talent, today anyone can get help in creating texts, content, and social media posts.

The ability to define textually or visually what we want is very essential for the outputs we will receive from AI.

For example, my students at Rimon use tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to write marketing posts for their singles and performances, attracting more attention and interest from the audience.

Stage Two: Completing Missing Skills

At this stage, AI is not just an aid but completes us. Think of a talented singer who doesn’t know how to produce music on her own. In the past, she depended on producers and large budgets. Today, with tools like Suno and Canva, she can create high-quality visual music herself. AI allows her to fill in the gaps and be independent in her creation.

When you, as a musician, give a brief to an external person, they don't have your interpretation. When everything depends on you, there's no ping-pong with the AI tools. You get exactly what you want for your creation.

One of my students, for instance, managed to produce an impressive music video herself using these tools, saving tens of thousands of shekels she would have spent on professionals.

Stage Three: Creating New Value

Here begins the real magic. Musicians use AI to create things that weren’t possible before. They combine their talent with the capabilities of technology to bring original and surprising creations into the world.

AI can make new connections, bring ideas from endless data sources, and create outputs we never imagined were possible.

Associative Innovation

Can AI be creative? The answer is both yes and no. AI can cover thousands of endless data sources and bring new connections. This

Amit Weiner and I sat down last May and recorded a podcast about this:

I’m with you 100% There’s so much potential in AI to complement the creative flow and in general tech in b2c thrives when the user feels empowered and upgraded. So someone who never made music can get a moment of joy promoting suno or udio but after a while it’ll get boring. However, a musician or producer that can get meaningful assistance in overcoming skill gaps or flow obstructions and still feel that they own their creation. They will become addicted!

"When everything depends on you, there's no ping-pong with the AI tools. You get exactly what you want for your creation." I'm not sure this is an advantage. The idea of collaboration is to get additional input.

There's an old Kaveret skit where Gidi Gov boasts about his creative abilities to write Bialik songs. This is more or less it, minus today we don't even bother writing anything. Just commission the computer to write "Bialik" songs for us. Back then it was supposed to be a joke.

What you say is very true, but you disregard one simple fact, a lot of the musical notes on these music creation software is stolen from existing songs and as somebody who is an instructor in the music school, you cannot disregard that problem. It's a major problem, I saw on YouTube somebody demonstrating making a YouTube music clip and they went to suno and Suno created a song which was all stolen. So when you make a song that's based on stolen motives that is not creative. That is absolute stealing..?? ????? not so good to show your students how to steal music in a backwards way..

So many amazing things can be made thanks to AI in Music and Art. By the way, we are listing the best AIs on HireAnAi.io We use a model to assess how each AI compares to its human counterpart.
