Ahh ... GDPR

Hello – to join in with the “common cause rule” made to address the “special cause issues” (which is an incorrect approach to fixing the issue) ….
The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force in the UK on 25 May 2018. As part of my data compliance policy here, it is my obligation to formally request your consent to retain your personal information (I have your email address and possibly your phone number) for the purposes of our marketing campaigns, ongoing services and events (that I have not run yet… but just in case I ever do).
If you are happy to give consent for the retention of your personal data, you do not need to contact us, as we will assume you are happy for us to retain your details on our system (my encrypted laptop) until such a time as you formally request your personal data to be erased or you unsubscribe from our mailing lists (that I don’t have).
If you decide, however, after reading this email (hopefully slightly entertaining) that you wish for your personal data to be erased then please email [email protected] and I will erase (actually use the delete key) your personal details from our systems (the encrypted laptop) in line with Article 17 of the up and coming GDPR and formally inform you when the removal of your personal data has been completed.
Yours Sincerely,

PS - please note that even though this is copied and edited somewhat "tongue in cheek" that I'm very sensitive to sensitive data after working in the military Aerospace and other very data sensitive companies.
Please note that if you are offended by this "tongue in cheek" approach that I'm offended that you are offended so two negatives multiplied together make a positive.
Very un-offensive!
