One of the creativity myths is that people think creative ideas come all of a sudden, just randomly; I tend to differ.
For me, getting a creative moment or solution is a culmination of processes that one undergoes for several years as a part of the creative experience.
I recall my days when I was handling a makeup brand #mikyajy in the region in 2004, my Manager Gaurav Khemani suggested that I visit art exhibitions and he always gifted me self-help books on “creative thinking”.
One day, I asked him, “What is common between art exhibitions and marketing?”
“Art exhibits are not only for artists and inventors, creativity is essential for problem-solving and finding new opportunities in business” he replied.
Fresh thinking and simple creativity can challenge the status quo and take the company in a new direction.
That’s the primary objective of Marketing i.e. to make business grow and thrive.
Today, visiting art exhibitions and observing trends, color palettes, and gifting books to my team members have become a part of me.
