AGRICULTURE: THE REVOLUTION THAT WILL GUARANTEE SUSTAINABILITY AND THE CONTINUA EXISTENCE OF LIFE AND THE HUMAN RACE - PAST PRESENT, AND THE FUTURE.

Life, as it is known, whether in the past or the future or as is, presently, mankind has been known to adhere to the following attributes; to be productive, reproduce, and grow.
In all these the common denominator in life is the man and his activities driven by the desire to survive.
To achieve this feat, throughout history, humankind has faced numerous challenges, but one of the greatest challenges ever faced, even today, is the mass migration of people from economically and socially challenged countries to those considered to be better, economically.
This mass migration has led to a population explosion in the host countries, which has given rise to new challenges, particularly, as it concerns nutrition and health.
Many migrants still crave the food of their homeland, which can pose problems for the health of the recipient in the new country.
?
To address these challenges, it is essential to recognize the critical role that agriculture can play in promoting sustainable development and ensuring access to safe and nutritious food.
The challenges
The majority of the migrants into Europe and the Americas are of African descent. Feeding this growing population has posed concerns to the governments of the host countries. What further complicates the challenge to the host countries is the fact that most (if not almost all) the migrants of African descent still crave cuisines from where they migrated – what a paradox.
Previously, some migrants carried local foodstuffs (from their country of origin) to the host countries, for themselves (or to sell to people living overseas).? At other times this foodstuff has even become unfit for human consumption but is still delivered to the recipient in Europe or another destination in the new country. To curb this illegality of potential ‘poisoned’ foodstuffs (that could be detrimental to the recipient’s health resident in the new country), many of these host countries have opened their borders to the importation of these food items to be brought having met certain regulations and policies standards requirements imposed by governments on imported food items – several restaurants, food kitchens and markets that provided these foodstuffs started and can be seen in some of these host countries. This is to minimize secondary issues of epidemic and health dimensions.
How African countries can take advantage of this trend
1.???? First African countries should develop laws and policies that will free up (or make more) land available for agricultural practices for agribusiness practitioners in the country.
2.???? Then the government of those countries along with the agencies of the African Union, AU, should enact laws and regulatory policies that will ensure that between 70-80% of Key Value Chain Actors (Activities) are present within the continent. This will enable agribusiness practitioners to develop sustainable competencies for specific home-grown commodities. This will guarantee that the majority of the value created is retained in the country minimizing or eliminating the challenges of capital flight.
3.????? Agribusiness practitioners should ensure that agricultural practices or activities are as ecological and biodiversity-friendly as possible.
4.???? Finally, and most importantly, African countries should encourage individuals engaged (would-be) in agriculture practices to learn to view agribusiness as a business (with the potential of a multinational business) and not for sustenance only.
Agribusiness should be approached as a major human activity that can guarantee and improve human existence through productivity, packaging, and providing services that promote good nutrition and promote good health.
