AGR deploys expert well engineering team for major Irish Sea decommissioning campaign
How do you deliver efficient and safe multi-platform well decommissioning project while the world is locked down? By resourcing and engaging talented petroleum experts who you can count on to deliver.
AGR was tasked to complete well engineering and execute decommissioning drilling project of 14 platform wells across two platforms and 10 subsea wells in a three-phase campaign. Our remit included the abandonment drilling design, well engineering, supply chain, regulatory compliance, planning and execution of permanently plugging the wells.

The work was carried out by our Well Management core team and consultants. As the Kinsale gas field decommissioning project was based in Ireland, our Consultancy team in Aberdeen providing temporary workforce for the project were responsible for ensuring a full tax compliance system was put in place with all personnel and that this was communicated and understood by all the personnel working offshore Ireland.

The UK and Ireland were in various states of lockdown from project start to completion. Agility, flexibility and swift decision-making were key in keeping up with constantly changing government regulations. To complicate matters further, midway through the project, Brexit resulted in changes in customs requirements.
Despite the obstacles, the platform work scope of the Project was completed without any QHSE incidents and ahead of time and below budget.
