Agile work at DACHSER

Just in time for the transport logistic, we presented the DACHSER Platform, which will fundamentally change the customer experience. Here, we’ll show you with three examples, how agility is already lived today at DACHSER with such a complex project.

1. Co-creation and inclusion of the customer

Since day one, the DACHSER Platform has been created in close collaboration with customers, and colleagues from many different departments. That way, we achieve absolute customer centricity and make sure that we develop the product according to market needs.

2. Agile framework for project teams

About 40 experts work on the platform’s code in four development teams in a scaled, agile framework. To generate as little dependency as possible between the teams, each team organizes itself and is responsible for a clearly defined, isolated scope. Everything is brought together with regular, overriding consultation and coordination between the teams.

3. Pilot phase long before market maturity

Developing a project for years to make it ready for market to then hope that it lands well, is outdated. Therefore, selected DACHSER pilot customers work with the first version of the software long before we present the product to the industry. Their valuable feedback keeps the development on track.

Conclusion

The agile organization of the teams and a positive mindset toward transformation require an open mind and a healthy “no blame” culture. But it quickly becomes apparent that in an agile setup, challenges are identified earlier, and individual insights are immediately made available to the whole team. In the long run, this creates more flexibility, faster ability to act, and improved productivity.
