Agile Thinking: Stable and Flexible Everywhere and Time
I remember many years ago how organization thrive for standardization deploying Management Systems for Quality, EHS and even SA.
Within each Management System is the possibility and the mechanism to improve “Processes†but in general the main benefit tends to be “deliver each time the sameâ€.
Six Sigma was a way to drive continuous improvement in structure organizations through DMAIC projects focusing in eliminating variability and errors through a Learning before Doing approach.
Lean approach instead was Learning by Doing, alternate cycles of standard work with kaizen events, even though when process management and improvement were co-located in space they still differ in time.
The challenge is to co-locate in space and time process management and performance improvement which can be done through People.
Comparing with Technology and Process, People should be the more flexible domain while the others bring stability to the organization.
Quality interactions between People in “Stable Organizations†through Huddles and Coaching are key to create flexibility and integrate both in space and time.
Agile Thinking is not a project to improve a process or a time chose to improve, should be everywhere and every time in the organization`s Way of Working.
