Agile learning with fun

Playing SM role for more than 5 years, I have always seen team shows reluctant to learn or know basic concepts of Agile. That use to be a big road blocker to move towards self organized Agile team for a distributed team. Below are few attempts that my trials to overcome team's point of view

First attempt: I started with 'Agile Gyan' session. Cadence that I kept was twice a month. It was a disaster, failed badly. Team hardly use to join, whoever use to join were found doing multi-tasking. Then I stopped those session. But I wanted team to know these basic things of Agile to inculcate best practices in them.

Second attempt: I started is a "Agile Quiz" over mail, which actually helped me to get more participation from team. I use to send one question with 4 - 5 multiple options and team was suppose to send only 1 response to it and at the end of the day I would declare the answer for the question and with one small explanation. Team started discussing about these quiz among themselves. Started googling about to get answer for that question and I also started getting request to start Agile Gyan session again. Then to make more interesting what I did was, I started Gyan sessions once in a week, followed with details which was discussed in the session and all quiz questions for that week will be based on that Gyan session topic.

Third attempt: Few more things I kicked started with my distributed team, telepresence meet up once in a month, we played some Agile games like Ball point, Agile Crossword and discuss on over view point on Agile, Scrum and Kanban. We also took same forum to appreciate each out.

I can actually see the change in the team. They understand Agile better and it helped in their day to day activity and overview. I won't say they are fully self organized though but journey has started!!!
