Agile Frameworks

AGILE APPROACHES AND AGILE METHODS ARE UMBRELLA TERMS ARE COVER A VARIETY OF FRAMEWORKS.

What is an Agile framework?

Agile represents an overarching philosophy for software development, emphasizing the value of iterating quickly and often to satisfy customers. Therefore, an agile framework can be defined as a specific software-development approach based on the agile philosophy articulated in the Agile Manifesto.

What all agile frameworks have in common is that they continuously iterate on the work process itself and aim to deliver value to customers quickly and frequently. But there are now countless frameworks and each one offers its own flavor of agile.?

Agile frameworks Types:

The most widely used and known Agile approaches focus on the activities of small individual teams over whole organizations. They aim to create more value for customers and establish the most productive and sustainable work environment for small teams of up to roughly 10 people. which are:

1- scrum:

Scrum is the most popular Agile framework and is used by 66% of Agile teams. Scrum breaks down big projects into small tasks that can be completed in short development cycles.

Most people out there tend to mistake Lean with Agile (and vice versa), but it should be known that Lean is one of the many Agile framework types. Even though both are quite similar in terms of features, they're not the same thing.

2- Kanban:

Kanban uses a central board with columns to visualize a team’s workflow. In its most basic implementation, the board contains at least three columns – “Backlog,” “Work In Progress (WIP),” and “Done.”

3- Extreme Programming (XP):

The XP framework is specifically tailored to teams of programmers. It improves software development projects through a set of specific values and technical practices.

Like Scrum, it emphasizes the inclusion of customers in the entire process, involves working in cycles of one to two weeks with frequent releases and planning sessions, and embraces standup meetings at the start of each day.

4- Crystal:

The Crystal framework focuses on talent, community, people, skills, communication, and interactions so that the best possible software development procedure can be ultimately delivered. Hence communication & constant reflection is necessary to bring the ideal amount of efficiency to the entire process. So, if a team is scattered across different areas and constant communication & reflection isn't possible, then this framework will be unsuccessful.?

5- DSDM or Dynamic Systems Development Method:

DSDM was created out of sheer necessity when the entire software industry required an Agile framework that can help in delivering software rapidly. In DSDM, rework is expected to happen on the product after delivery and any additional development work that’s done should be reversible. Similar to Scrum, DSDM also uses the concept of Sprints.

6- FDD or Feature Driven Development:

FDD is defined as a software-specific Agile methodology. This type of framework involves the creation of certain software models every fortnight and for each model, the design & development process is planned. FDD has much more rigorous documentation needs than Extreme Programming, which means that this process is great for a team that has advanced planning & design capabilities.?
