Can you build a business based on a passionate belief in something? The answer is a resounding Yes. But can you build a profitable business based on passion alone? Not really unless you take care of other important items like generating revenues, managing costs, pricing it right, and marketing, etc. But I know from my own experience and from the experience of many other entrepreneurs that I talked to, passion is an important ingredient of any business. In this week’s Agile Entrepreneur podcast, I interviewed 3 entrepreneurs who are very passionate about their business and their passion goes above and beyond profitability. They want to make a significant impact in their chosen area. Let me warn you that their passion is contagious and you might just catch it.
Jennifer McGinley is the CEO of JLM Strategic Communications based in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Her company specializes in Media Relations, Community Outreach and Reputation Management. As a public relations professional for 25 years, Jennifer has built a reputation based on integrity, professionalism, attention to details and consistency. Jennifer talks about her love for media relations, building relationships, and serving others. She gives advice on using LinkedIn as a sales tool, hiring a business coach, and expanding one's network.

She is a wife and mother of two boys ages 6 and 20 and her passion is children’s fitness. Michelle talks about how she got the idea to start her business while she was playing with her then 5 years old on a Sunday morning. She believed in her idea so much that she (after talking to her husband) took some equity out of their house and jumped both feet into her business. For her, MyFirstWorkout.Com is not just a business but a passionate belief in children’s fitness and parents’ connection to children while being fit.
