Agile Change in Business Requires Leadership Muscle

Helping Businesses Win Attention & Loyalty w/Innovative Video
Your leadership in general is like an earned fitness certification that can be hung on a wall or communicated to others.
But, your leadership skills are like the muscle that needs to be constantly developed to consistently have a different level of performance.
Several years ago when the oil market crashed, the largest store in my district went from consistent double digit revenue growth for several years to negative double digit revenue decline.
That store did 2 and 3x's the revenue of other stores in the market.
If this store didn't win, the market didn't win.
I was told I would just have to ride it out until the oil market came back around.
But the opposite of win isn't in my vocabulary.
And, I was always a business person who happened to be in retail.
So...I partnered with my store manager to set up feedback sessions with key people in the oil fields. (Mind you I'm from Ohio and knew nothing about oil fields)
I called officers in the company with requests to change product brands per customer feedback, and to pilot products requested by oil field execs in the store (even though that was something we didn't do).
But, I kept calling until they got tired of me calling, and someone made it happen.
And, sales...went back up.
When that inventory ran out, I kept calling back and made it happen again.
We. Beat. The. Oil. Crash.
I'm a leader who doesn't settle when it comes to my people or my business.
"That's not what we do" or "That's the way we've always done it" aren't in my DNA.
I'm constantly working on my leadership development, seeking out mentors, strategically finding innovative ways around the status quo, BUT in ways that are in route to my goals and vision.
Has leadership development and agility become part of your DNA?
How do you strengthen your leadership muscles in a way that allows you to change in the moment, and lead with agility on behalf of your customers and your business?
