Aggreko Expands European Cooling Fleet to Protect Petrochemical Industry from Heatwaves

Aggreko, a leading energy solutions provider, has substantially invested in its European cooling fleet to enhance support for the petrochemical industry during the anticipated summer heat.

With forecasts indicating above-average temperatures across Europe, the demand for efficient HVAC solutions is critical for maintaining operational continuity while minimizing energy consumption.

To address this need, Aggreko has expanded its fleet of chillers, specifically targeting petrochemical refineries. This expansion aims to provide short- and long-term cooling solutions essential for maintaining critical operations, especially during emergencies and periods of increased demand.

Investment in Green Technologies

Greener Upgrades -

Aggreko is committed to advancing its expertise in HVAC by introducing greener cooling technologies. The company is launching two new product lines that enhance its existing industrial HVAC offerings and its broader Greener Upgrades? initiative.

A notable addition is the very low-temperature chiller, the VLTC550, which utilizes CO2 (R774) refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of one. This innovative unit delivers stable and efficient cooling, achieving 220 kW at -40°C within a compact 10 ft footprint.

In response to regulatory pressures for lower GWP refrigerants, Aggreko is transitioning all its screw chillers to R513A, which reduces the GWP of its industrial chiller fleet by nearly 60%. This shift underscores the company's dedication to supporting clients in their transition to environmentally friendly refrigerants.

Enhanced Cooling Solutions for Diverse Industries

Compressed Air Product Lines

For larger cooling needs, Aggreko has introduced a new line of water-cooled chillers that deliver 1.5 MW of cooling using R513A refrigerant. These modular and scalable solutions are designed to meet the demands of various sectors, including data centers, manufacturing, petrochemicals, food and beverage, and mining.

The advanced control capabilities of these chillers ensure optimal performance and efficiency, making them suitable for a range of applications.

Danny Quinn MInstR Head of HVAC and Compressed Air Product Lines at Aggreko said: “Supplementary cooling solutions are important for any petrochemical industry organisations looking to maintain smooth operations while balancing cost and environmental impact. We have invested in our European fleet of temperature control equipment so that we can provide the most efficient solutions that meet all regulatory requirements for customers, which can be implemented quickly on their site. Our expert teams can ensure the correct level of equipment is selected, with no project too complex.”

Commitment to Sustainability

Aggreko's commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated through its significant investments in the Greener Upgrades? portfolio. This initiative focuses on integrating Stage V generators, greener fuels, and Battery Energy Storage Systems to enhance the efficiency of its chillers while reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

By prioritizing these Greener Upgrades?, Aggreko aims to make clean and efficient technologies more accessible to its customers.

This approach aligns with the company's sustainability framework, Energising Change?, which emphasizes the importance of providing comprehensive cooling solutions that help clients maintain resilience and minimize operational costs and emissions.

Quinn reiterated Aggreko's dedication to supporting customers' sustainability strategies while balancing cost and operational resilience. As the summer heat intensifies, the company is well-equipped with a robust fleet and skilled personnel ready to implement effective cooling solutions, ensuring that clients can navigate temperature control challenges efficiently.

Future Outlook

Aggreko's investment in its European cooling fleet represents a proactive approach to addressing the needs of the petrochemical industry amid rising summer temperatures.

By focusing on innovative, environmentally friendly technologies and comprehensive support, Aggreko is positioning itself as a key partner in the industry's ongoing transition towards sustainability.
