All I Want For Christmas is Overtime

Rather than comparing Love Actually to Caddyshack (some scenes are classics, others are unwatchable) the leaves have barely changed color and it feels like peak season on the job. Classically it starts around November 15. Thanksgiving is ruined because the next workday starts so early I don't have time to deal with my sister's in-laws.

They are retired and don't envision an hourglass because they need to go to bed at 7:30. Oh well, the way in laws and potential in laws treated me is another major reason I never considered marriage. Another story, another article.

I was amazed how quickly the busy days arrived. In a way it started the Tuesday after Labor Day. They gave us a very late start time, assuming there was not much work.

In all my years I have never seen an "Easy" day. There might be periods with less work. They hit us with a lot in a short period of time. They have not given us a lackadaisical start time since.

As an hourly employee that is alright. We earn the money we make. It's not like there is a bonus for sending people home early on our level. That leads management to focus on something different than I do which is the pride of a job well done.

There might be extra work because there was an Amazon Prime event last week. There are many new employees who are given as little support as possible. I try talking to them and management looks at me as if I am teaching Afghani girls how to read.

That's their problem. I was raised that many people can teach many perspectives and now they want everyone to do the work one way whether it feels right or not. These are the supervisors who occasionally they say they appreciate my work and their actions tell an entirely different story.

Remain true to yourself. I am trying to finish my articles for the year. Normally it happens in November because it is too busy at work to think about articles. Also, when I started this job there was no "Algorithm" nor the perception of shadow banning so posts in December were not well read because people didn't use the site around Christmas.

Now no one sees my work any time of year unless they get lucky. The only way to see a post from any connection is "By accident". Some actually think that bell makes a difference. Not sure if it ever did.

The start times are earlier. I have not had to change my alarm clock. Not yet. It seems like we shall have Zero Dark Thirty shifts. When you usually start around four in the morning and have to arrive at 12:30- there is a difference. It won't keep me from doing what I do on a thankless job.
