Hi there, it’s time for another dose of health & longevity research, #innovations & tips.
Can Exercise Compensate for Your Sleep Deficits? …
Remember, both too little (<6 hours) and too much (>8 hours) sleep are linked to shorter life expectancy.
But you seem to be able to relatively easily offset both and reduce your risk of dying from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, or other issues.?
All you need to do is get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity per week, the recommended WHO ‘dosage.’
So, get moving regularly … and still try to get close to 8 hours of sleep as often as you can.
Sugar is as Bad for You as You’ve Heard …
… Especially sugars that contain #fructose have plenty of negative effects, including weight gain & #obesity, diabetes, heart disease, some cancers (including breast cancer), … and depression … as a massive umbrella review of 73 meta-analyses of other studies found (study).
For instance, each sugar-sweetened drink per day increased the chances of developing type 2 diabetes by 27% and early onset colorectal cancer by 16%. Just one serving per week (!) increased the risk of dying from any cause by 4%.
The only sugar that could even have some benefits is #sucrose, with a slight protective effect for type 2 diabetes and dying from cardiovascular diseases. You find it primarily in grains, grain-based products, and fruits and vegetables. But I would expect that the dose makes the difference.?
Speaking about the dose …
The researchers recommend reducing your free and added sugar intake to less than 25 g/day (about 6 teaspoons) and less than one serving of sugar-sweetened beverages a week. Ideally, you cut out the sugary drink completely … and check the labels to see how much sugar the foods and drinks you want to buy actually contain.

Using technology like the one from ImmersiveTouch , doctors can, e.g., convert CT and MRI scans into a digital model of yourself and use it to view, zoom in, and simulate surgeries before they actually happen. This not only allows them to identify the best surgery plans beforehand … and share visuals with you as a patient; they also avoid a lot of unwanted surprises
As I was just talking about surgery, did you know that in every 5,500th surgery, a surgical instrument is 'forgotten' in the body? Surgeons do use a lot of surgical equipment during any operation, and they spend quite a lot of time trying to make sure they account for each one. Using a platform like Scalpel can keep you safer … and save hospitals time and money
