Hi there, the festive season is coming closer every day.

While I’ve already got my little office Christmas tree since the beginning of the month, we’ve got our big Christmas tree this week.

Just seeing the tree(s), the way they sparkle, and the little ornaments that we’ve collected all over the world, that the children made, and?that we’ve still got from my grandparents … each one is a?wonderful memory?I wouldn’t want to miss.

What decoration do you use to celebrate this season??

What Do You Want to Improve About Yourself in the Future? …

… Over the centuries, and especially over the last decades, we’ve seen many different ways of improving our body, #mind, and spirit.

But with new and emerging #technologies that can go far beyond just improving and optimizing ourselves, the discussion about what is ethical and what is not is becoming louder and louder.?

So, seeing a project like SIENNA, funded by the European Union, is a significant step forward as it provides a sound basis for discussion (source).?

SIENNA identified 6 functional categories of human enhancement for which they envision ethical interventions …

  • Physical?enhancements include?performance?(e.g., being able to lift extremely heavy objects) and?endurance. It could also mean the?addition of new abilities, like being able to see clearly in the dark
  • Cognitive enhancements, including intelligence, clarity, and creativity
  • Longevity. Including this category is a big sign of how far we've come over even just the last few years. Interventions they envision include?the prevention?of diseases and disabilities and?enhancing durability. They also include?reversing, limiting, or mitigating against senescence, which doesn't entirely do justice to the idea of slowing or stopping the aging process of the body that they seem to have in mind, as senescence is not the only aspect of aging
  • Affective & emotion enhancements can help you take better control of your moods & emotions (e.g., switching in an instant from feeling very stressed to total calm)
  • Cosmetic?interventions intend to enhance the cosmetic appearance and also human traits. As you would expect, this includes?#aesthetic?enhancements and also?body modifications like ‘installing’ magnetic fingertips. Some of these modifications will blend with adding new physical capabilities like integrating a chip in a tooth that can measure what you eat and drink or biomarkers indicating changes in your health early on.
  • Moral?enhancements probably need the most additional discussions as this is about reinforcing and 'correcting' socially acceptable attitudes and behaviors.?But what is acceptable … at what time?

What would YOU love to enhance about yourself?

Improve Your #Health & Longevity with 1-Minute Bursts of Vigorous Activity …

… Short 1-minute bursts of vigorous activity throughout the day, like walking up stairs, running for the bus, carrying something heavy, and other things that raise your heart rate, can significantly lower your risk of dying.

Even just 3 bouts of 1-minute vigorous activity are related to lowering the risk of dying from any cause by 39%, cancer by 40%, and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) by even 49%.

Considering that CVDs are the leading cause of death worldwide and in the US alone, every 34 seconds, somebody dies of a CVD, just 3 super-short bursts a day is a super-easy way to improve your chances of living a healthier longer life … even for people who cannot or don't want to follow other/longer exercise regimes (Study 1. Source 2).

So, get moving … even if it’s just for a minute a day … or better 3 times a minute.

Boost Your Health and Natural #Immunity with Infrared Heat …

… I'm a big fan of infrared saunas as they not only make you feel good but also have plenty of health benefits.

Here is a short abstract from an article in our Jeunessima Magazine Immune System Special …

Imagine you are outside on a mild, cloudy day … Suddenly, the grey sky cracks open, the sun’s light hits your face, and you can feel its gentle warmth on your skin. This delightful sensation is caused by infrared light.

All living organisms on earth are subject to natural electromagnetic radiation from the sun’s rays.

From this light, thermal radiation (aka infrared) is made. It consists of waves of energy in the electromagnetic spectrum that have been used effectively for millennia to treat and ease a variety of illnesses and discomforts.?

Heated saunas using infrared light provide a safe warming radiant heat in a controlled environment, with numerous health benefits …

  • #Detoxification
  • Weight loss & increased metabolism
  • Immune system boost
  • Improved skin
  • …?

Cool Product Corner. Ultrahuman Ring …

… Not everybody likes wearing a watch to measure things like sleep, activity, heart rate, heart rate variability, body temperature, …

A ring is a great solution.

And since Oura created the market years ago (and has their 3rd version out now), new players are coming into the field.

One of them is the Ultrahuman ring.

While it has many but not all features that are similar to Oura, one feature stands out and makes the ring unique …

#Ultrahuman wants to focus on your metabolic health bringing together the data I’ve mentioned above with your blood glucose levels. They already offer patches for continuous blood glucose monitoring (CGM).

This information will give you a great understanding of how different foods impact your biomarkers, helping you to live a healthier lifestyle.

The caveat is that to keep getting this information, you need a subscription to Ultrahuman's CGM patches, which costs around $2,150 a year … plus $299 for the ring.

You could, of course, use the ring on its own … or get 2 CGM patches for one month … and use this time to test as much as possible.

Be aware, though, that other companies are working on devices that allow for non-invasive blood glucose monitoring. And we'll likely see apps that could give similar suggestions to the Ultrahuman ring without paying for patches.

Quote of the Week …

Promise you will be

Nobody else’s little Christmas tree

I’ll make you sparkle, just you wait and see

My little Christmas tree

- Mickey Rooney?

Have fun … stay young,

Ines
