Ageism killing your search?

The Candidate Operating System. Looking for the 1 BIG partnership to help Executive Candidates explode!
Try this.
The battle of the ages, talent vs. ageism. Yes, ageism is alive and well. It's not a new phenomenon. In my first VP of Staffing role, a leader told me she couldn't hire a candidate I was trying to champion because they were too "seasoned." That was the first time I blatantly experienced ageism and the last time I championed a candidate.?
In my pre-webinar surveys, candidates ask questions about fighting ageism more than other questions (on a 3-to-1 basis). If you are asking questions about ageism, from my experience, you have already decided that this is THE block in your job search. I get it.?
You have had success. Colleagues and recruiters used to reach out for opportunities all the time. Then, it stopped. It must be ageism. How could it be anything else??
Let's say you're right. Employers think you are done, dust, down for the count. Now what? Are you going to hang up your cape and concede that your superpowers are passe or non-existent? Again, in my experience, no.?
Most candidates who believe they have aged out continue to pursue opportunities, but they do it in the same tired ways they have for the last 20+ years. Would you be open to a headspace change if it meant you would land the 400, 500, 700k+ job you deserve??
Once the ageism needle is off the record and all that negative self-talk about why this isn't happening gets turned down, you leave yourself space to re-invent. You need VALIDATION. Once a leader validates that you own things that they need, all the junk washes off your body, you stand taller, project power, and attract employers.?
If I were you, I would talk to as many leaders from your past and potential leaders for your present about your unique value. It just takes one to change the orbit of your search.?

Ageism, like nepotism, is its own punishment ;-) Best to learn from others' mistakes, rather than pay the young folks to repeat them for you ;-)
