Ageing care | The reality of caring in the UK
Are you providing ageing care for your loved one?
Whether you’re checking in to make sure they’re okay, arranging professional care, or providing care within your home, looking after an older loved one can be a huge responsibility.
Caring for a loved one
Caring for a loved one is common throughout the UK, and after surveying a total of over 6,000 people, we uncovered a range of key statistics regarding care.
This is a vast number of the population — and, with the rising life expectancy and advancing healthcare, it has the potential to keep growing.
Experiencing vulnerabilities
Concerns about your older loved ones dealing with potential vulnerabilities, such as injuries or falls when left alone, are common in all types of ageing care.
We discovered that this is a similar statistic across the country among?those who care for their older loved ones. Of the six thousand people we surveyed, we found that this is a concern for many carers across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
To combat this, we created Sentai sensors and a clicker. These are an unobtrusive method of detecting your loved ones' movements and alerting you if they need help. Discreet and subtle, our sensors can provide much-needed relief to carers.

Visiting family
Having a visitor is a great way for loved ones to stay social and maintain strong relationships. But, according to our research, carers may find it difficult to visit their loved ones as much as they would like.
According to our survey, 20% of carers in England, 19% in Scotland, 13.7% in Northern Ireland, and 16% in Wales, are unable to make those frequent visits. We also discovered that 51.2% of carers in the UK worry about their loved ones experiencing loneliness.
At Sentai, our aim is to ease some of these concerns.?Our technology?can assist you in creating reminders for your loved ones to take prescribed medications or follow through on plans. It also sends you notifications if your loved one is having problems and requires your help.
Whilst we understand the challenges faced in ageing care, we want to continue improving our technology. We aim to provide relief for carers and support for users, promoting independent living for as long as possible.?
The above statistics show that there are gaps in the ageing care field. At Sentai, we offer a device that provides companionship, reassurance and assistance — offering peace of mind for the elderly, their carers, and their loved ones.
