  1. You try to appear only qualified.
  2. You describe yourself as equivalent to less expensive candidates, attempting to avoid appearing overqualified.
  3. You focus your resume (and interviews) on responsibilities, experience, qualifications, skills and tasks.
  4. You don't understand an individual hiring manager's real and current needs, instead relying on the published job description.
  5. You fail to prove you're worth higher perceived compensation requirements.
