Moving from Queensland to the Goulburn Valley in Victoria to take on my first management position with NAB as an Agribusiness Manager has been a big challenge, but it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Given my background in the beef industry and being originally from Queensland, I would have been more in my comfort zone if I stayed in the north. I had an extensive network in Brisbane as well but I believe you don’t learn unless you really challenge yourself, so when the opportunity to move to Shepparton came up, I jumped at it.

I’ve been based in Shepparton now for 16 months, working with clients across a diverse portfolio that includes exposure to the dairy industry, southern cropping commodities, and intensive horticulture. It has been a boundless place to learn from an industry perspective and the NAB team is really supportive.

Regardless of where you’re based and what businesses you’re working with, the fundamentals are the same in terms of client relationships, production, cost of production, and external factors that can impact markets.

Going through the NAB Regional & Agribusiness Graduate Program after I completed my degree at the University of Queensland, and having now made the move south, I feel as though I have really galvanised the direction I’m taking in my career.
