Against All Odds: From a Small Village to Boston Scientific, Devendra's Inspiring Journey of Triumph and Resilience

"I was born in a lower middle class family, in a small village, near Saharanpur."

When I was around three years old, my father sent me to my maternal aunt's house in Saharanpur, for better education and better exposure.

I stayed with my aunt till my class eight.

They say that life is not fair and never goes as predicted.

While in my class ninth, my family's business condition faced difficulties and our financial situation detoriated drastically.

I had to return to my home in my village.

With things getting slight better and as time passed, for my graduation, I managed to shift back to the city.

During my graduation years, I worked at a Public Call Office from 6 am - 8 am before my college hours. I would then attend my college lectures followed by tuition classes till 06.30 PM. Post this, I worked at a PCO from 07.00 in the evening till late at night.

I did this for the entire three years of my graduation. I had to take care of my finances and do every bit to reduce the financial burden on them, while fulfilling my dreams.

By the time I completed my graduation, my family's business conditions started to get better.

After my graduation, I shifted to Delhi in 2003 and started working as a medical representative. After three years in the field, I found the job quite monotonous and took a job shift. This is when I started working with an Indian distributor, venturing into cardiology medical devices.

In 2009, I got married; my better half supported me in all my tough decisions to leave the comfort zone of my existing assignment and start from scratch again for the new opportunity to work in the Cardiac Rhythm Management field.

As a newcomer in that tech competent field, I had to undergo the rigorous training for two years; but with my wife's support, I decided to take on the risk, which resulted in exposure to better learnings & possibilities, worked in several states in India including Gujarat & Punjab.

In 2013, I shifted back to Delhi NCR, joined Boston Scientific as an Area Manager. At present, I have completed my ten years at Boston Scientific, in multiple roles as a people manager to a leader in cardiology who have managed almost 20 percent of the company's business since the mid Covid times.

My desire to learn and grow also inspired me to complete my Executive Management Program from IIM Ahmedabad and a course on Strategy & Innovation from XLRI.

Over the years, I have discovered my passion to help and support people. My mantra on people is;

Grow business by helping people grow

I am persuing my Phd around Leadership Communication.

My journey from working as a hawker to working at the Boston Scientific is fulfilling and I wish to help others not give in to their circumstances.

Here is an Xtraordinary message from Devendra,

Even Impossible has ' I M Possible'. Be a fighter, never quit".

Wow Devendra Kr. Babbar. This is super inspiring.
